Designer Tokujin Yoshioka (吉岡德仁) has designed a window display for Maison Hermés, Tokyo. ‘The window is designed with an image of woman projected on to a monitor. The scarf softly sways in the air in response to the woman’s blow.’

‘On designing a window-display of Maison Hermès, I intended to express people’s daily ‘movements’ with a suspicion of humor. There are moments when I perceive a hidden presence of a person in the movements born naturally in daily life. I created a design where one can perceive someone behind the scarves as if life were being breathed into them.’

The installation will run until January 19th, 2010. / via Designboom

Japanese designer Nosigner recently completed this signage campaign for a cram school run by Ikushinsha, a publisher of educational materials. I think it’s so clever how an ordinary ruler, when adapted as a motif, can look so visually stunning. It is also the one iconic symbol of learning and growth – an object that all students use at some point in their studies regardless of the discipline. / via Spoon & Tamago

MICKEY JACKSON MOUSE

Mickey Jackson Mouse
Art which makes you think

Mickey Jackson Mouse is the artwork by atelier Alessio Blanco for Walt Disney Company. Created just few weeks before Michael Jackson died, it has been acclaimed by critics as a tribute to the great artist. The artwork is now at Times Square in Hong Kong for the “Bloc Mickey” event by Walt Disney.

Mickey Jackson Mouse is shaping from the idea that Mickey Mouse is an anthropomorphic mouse willing so bad to look like a man that nowadays can resort to plastic surgery to score his main goal. This sets  a deal with Mickey and Michael, even for the assonance of names, though we could have never pictured what would happen few days after its creation.

The artwork is just intended to be ironic and is assuming a new connotation about the role of plastic surgery in modern society even if the artist never wanted to make a direct reference to the King of Pop.
