During the 2010 world cup, a font that’s used on the Adidas jersey has caught my eyes. UNITY is designed by Adidas & Brazil designer Yomar Augusto for the use during the world cup 2010 in South Africa. The type is not so classic but definitely a fresh on the football jerseys. Designer Yomar Augusto has initially trained as a graphic designer, studied photography at the school of visual arts in NYC, and then completed a master in type design from the royal academy of art in the hague, the Netherlands before he started his own studio in Rio de Janeiro.
W+K Amsterdam has created a series of campaign for NIKE football. The advertising campaign has recorded the moment of the world’s top footballers who are writing the futures. Only the moments on the pitch will decide what really happens. And the margins for error could not be more narrow. Directed by Alejandro González Iñárritu (Babel, 21 Grams) and featuring the incredibly unique music of Dutch rockers, Focus, the film shows how one moment on the pitch can be the catalyst for ripple effects felt around the world.
The design world lost a dear friend early Sunday morning with the passing of D. Tobias Wong, whose wit and daring will be terribly missed, and whose design provocations provided a consistent touchpoint throughout much of the last decade. / via Core77

The main venue of DESIGNTIDE TOKYO serves as a platform for designers to give polished, carefully considered presentations of their work.
This year, architect Ryuji Nakamura(中村竜治) has been selected to design the main venue at DESIGNTIDE TOKYO. How will he interpret the works by this year’s participating designers? What kind of space will he create to showcase them? Fans of Nakamura’s previous work are no doubt already looking forward to what he will come up with this time.
Brainstorming sessions for potential ideas are already underway. Look out for updates on Nakamura’s ideas and creative process in the coming weeks! / via DesignTide
